Kids teeth are very important to their overall health. Making certain they grow in strong and healthy will help ensure they remain healthy. At Bright Value Dental, our kids dentist understands the importance of monitoring a child’s teeth as they come in and as they grow.
Our Bellaire dental clinic provides pediatric dentistry for our patients so that parents can rest assured their child’s teeth are taken care of. Just like anyone’s teeth, kids teeth can experience various issues that can be painful or can lead to further damage to teeth and oral health. Here are some of the more common issues:
- ORAL CAVITIES: Cavities happen very often and can lead to some very painful moments. Cavities typically take place when a patient doesn’t brush consistently or thoroughly. Diet can also lead to cavities. If a child consumes way too many sugary products, then this can make it more difficult to keep cavities at bay. If a tooth gets chipped, then if that area is not covered and filled with dental filling, then a cavity can quickly take place.
- GUM DISEASE: When a patient doesn’t properly maintain their oral health, then gum disease can quickly attack. Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, happens when a patient doesn’t brush or floss their teeth consistently and thoroughly. Gum disease is reversible by these two applications, as well as oral cleanings. Kids need to brush twice per day every day, floss every day, and receive an oral cleaning every six months.
- MALOCCLUSION: Malocclusion is when teeth are compacted and must be pushed away from each other and aligned. Sometimes this requires the removal of a tooth or some teeth. More often than not, braces can take care of this issue. For other issues, like gapped, misaligned and crooked teeth, braces are the best method to taking care of the teeth.
